How To Set Small Achievable Goals For Yourself In 2017
Hey gals! My name is Chelsea Briche, founder of The Millennial Miss, and I am a 27-year-old who believes that with hustle and heart you can accomplish your wildest dreams. Reese’s Peanut Buttercups are my weaknesses, my family is my world, I am a Scorpio to the T, and I sing in the shower as if I was Beyoncé. I created The Millennial Miss because I felt there was a need for a site dedicated purely to Millennial women and all of the trials and tribulations that we face growing up in today’s society.
Now, even though I am not a huge fan of the “New Year New Me” mindset I do believe that there is undeniable magic in new beginnings. If you ask me, being a work in progress in a beautiful thing so instead of wiping the slate clean keep your foundation and refocus your way of thinking to build a stronger you, a healthier you, a happier you, more determined you. One thing that I do carry with me from year to year is goal setting. Whether you set goals weekly, monthly or yearly ensuring you have the right tools to succeed is half the battle.
Here are 5 ways to help you achieve your goals in 2017:
1| Be Specific
The more detailed you make your goals, the better. Ask yourself questions and write down a distinct answer. For example; instead of saying “I want to lose weight” have your goal be, “I will lose 8 lbs by March 1st.” If making better financial decisions is in your wheel house this year then write down specially how much money a week you are aiming to save and remember, the daily $5 latte adds up over time.
2| Step By Step
You can’t conquer all 365 days at once so take a step back and take it day by day, month by month. Use the small victories to keep you motivated to see results as the year continues.
3| Get In touch With Yourself
You want to know something really cool? No one knows you better than yourself. As you are setting your New Year resolutions take a moment to tune in with your mind and body. Self-awareness is incredibly powerful, pay close attention to what your soul is craving for the year ahead.
4| Teamwork Makes The Dream Work
Grab a friend, spouse or a co-working to embark on the resolution journey with you. You both will be responsible for checking in on each other’s progress and serving an extra dose of encouragement when needed. Take the time now to think who your accountability partner will be.
5| A Pat On The Back
Achieving resolutions is a marathon, not a sprint. Carving out time for a water break and acknowledging even your tiny successful steps forward is required. Be kind on yourself and always give credit where credit is due.
I hope 2017 is a year that your dreams become a reality. Don’t ever give up, you never know how close you are.
