Societygal feature with Monica Woodhams

Monica works with influencers and business owners launch and grow their business in the digital and podcast space. Giving them exposure to new audiences beyond social media. She helps her clients gain exposure to new audiences by sharing their stories through podcasting, unveiling the raw stories that go beyond the Instagram filters.

Monica believes that in today’s social media landscape, it’s time for brands to focus their strategies beyond posting on Social Media. A podcast interview establishes expertise faster and has a longer lifespan than a social media post, making it a non-negotiable when it comes to increasing brand awareness and building long term content. You can read more about that here.

She is also the host of The Influencer Girl Lifestyle Podcast which is all about connecting entrepreneurs, influencers, and experts who are making an impact all across the globe. Past guest include ; Christine Lakin - producer and actress from Hollywood Darlings and Step By Step, Sarah Herron - Founder of SheLift, Erika Stoleman - Founder of FashionLush, and Sarah Tripp - Founder of Sassy Red Lipstick and many more.

Tell us about yourself and what you do?: I'm the host of the Influencer Girl Lifestyle Podcast and also help entrepreneurs get booked on podcasts as guest experts as well as launch their own podcasts.

What do you like most about Societygal?: I love that Societygal is one of the only communities I know where there is a genuine desire to collaborate and that there is a wide range of career paths and businesses that the women in the community are in. When we can be exposed to various types of businesses, I think that's when are creative juices really start to flow rather than being in a tunnel vision of our own industry.

Who do you look up to and why?: I look up to Alli Webb, the founder of DryBar. I admire the progression of her business and as DryBar has grown, so has her personal branding. I think it's really cool that she's happy to be herself on social media regardless of owning such a large company. I often see entrepreneurs feel like they have to hide their authentic selves in order to not be controversial or "say the wrong thing" and Alli isn't afraid to talk about her beliefs and mission in the world. When I met her in person, she was just as genuine as you would expect her to be and that goes a long way.

What advice do you have for our readers?: My biggest advice that I think applies to an scenario in life is to step outside of your comfort zone on a regular basis. Not just once a year, but weekly if not daily. Growth doesn't happen if you're going through the motions of the day or if you're making decisions out of habit because you know what the outcome will be. I belief growth is what happens in the moments gearing up to make that decision outside of our comfort zones.

What new things are you up to?: I recently moved to Washington, D.C. and it has been so much fun to explore a new city and grow my business here reaching a brand new network of influencers.

What books are you reading?: I Had a Nice Time and other lies by The Betches, The Little Book of Skincare by Charlotte Cho

When did you launch your business?: 2014, my first blogged launched in 2009 though so that is really the beginning of my business roots

What are your offerings in your business?: I help influencers and entrepreneurs get booked on podcasts and launch their own podcasts. I also have a course on how to become a profitable Influencer called Influencer Girl Lifestyle Success School

How do you manage a work / life balance? Do you set any specific boundaries?: I've stopped working on the weekends which has allowed me to truly take a step back from work and come to it on Monday with a fresh perspective.

What is does your morning routine look like? Do you stick to a schedule?: I wake up and drink Four Sigmatic coffee and add in Bulletproof Instamix and some almond milk. I'll journal and meditate - sometimes throwing in some Kundalini Yoga. My schedule is a little different most days because I try not to wake up with an alarm.

Favorite food +/or drinks?: Asian food, oysters, a nice charcuterie board, tequila on the rocks with a splash of lime and sparkling water, coffee
